Heading to Pomona College, Triana Maldonado is off to major in neuroscience. “I chose neuroscience because I am really into science and I also wanted math, and I was just very interested in brain study,” Maldonado said. “It intrigued me more than anything else.” In the future she hopes to continue researching in labs or pursue medicine.
During her time in high school, Maldonado took many classes as opportunities to explore her interests. Outside of class, she takes pride in competing in cross country and track and field. “For cross country we went to Hawaii for a travel meet and we got first place,” Maldonado said. “Then we went to state for cross country. I was really involved in that as well.”
When asked about her favorite memories at CHS, Maldonado responded with her time on the cross country team, and spending time with her friends.
“I really just enjoyed hanging out with my friends,” Maldonado said. “We often ate by Indian Hill, and we always had really cool conversations.”
As Maldonado departs CHS, she leaves behind advice for her underclassmen. “My advice would be to really look into what you wanna do,” Maldonado said. “I feel like if you are in high school you should think a little bit on what you want to do and not just so many classes to boost your GPA.”
Finally, she wants to acknowledge people that had an impact on her high school experience. “Shout out to all my friends and all the Dikadikadoo group,” said Maldonado. “And also shout out to Mrs. Suarez cause she helped me a lot to figure out what I wanted to do and she kept me on track to do my assignments, and shout out to Ms. Kandice because even though I wanted to drop out from Calculus BC I didn’t. [Finally], shout out to Ms. Kusano, because she is the best math teacher.”
