For the last four years, Gyuwon Lee has had a noticeable and welcoming presence at Claremont High. She is the final sibling in the Lee family to attend Claremont High and is excited to graduate, moving onto bigger things. Lee will be staying local, spending her next four years living on the Scripps campus. Admitted for Neuroscience, Lee was drawn to Scripps because of the community that is formed between all of the 5Cs.
“Everybody is so kind to one another, and it genuinely feels like the schools have a real bond,” Lee said.
As she departs, it is important to recognize all of the achievements that Lee gathered at CHS. Lee has a very strong school spirit, attending many school events and gatherings, even taking part in the Every Fifteen Minutes program. Lee participated in CHS orchestra for three years – even making it to play in chamber orchestra.
There is no doubt that being in high school is not easy. Luckily for those not graduating, Lee has left behind some advice to help those in need. Her core philosophy is simple;
“To do well, all you need to do is finish your work before you go out,” Lee said.
She believes that procrastination is a hidden evil, and making sure everything is finished on time is a clear avenue for success. Through this, Lee has been able to flourish, and have an amazing few years at CHS.
She has plenty of favorite memories and fondly remembers many friends. One such memory is the December 2022 Winter Debate party with Andrea Dorantes and Rachel Yuen, which she still treasures. Lee is bound to create many more memories with many more people as she thrives during her time at Scripps. She would love to shout out Tyler Zitter, Grace Wright, Leo Rafael, Caleb Fong, and Elizabeth Delgado.
