With this application, one can apply to be a reporter, photographer, artist/cartoonist, photo editor, online manager, business manager, or advertising manager.

Reporters are the backbone to the Wolfpacket operation. Responsibilities include coming up with story ideas, writing assigned articles, interviewing sources, and communicating effectively with section editors and the editors-in-chief. Dedication, creativity, and passion are required for this position. Reporters can also apply to be photographers or cartoon artists, as long as reporting takes number one priority. Every new staff member of the Wolfpacket must hold and fulfill the reporter position before possibly being promoted to an editor position. Taking Journalism 1 is encouraged, but it is not required and will not affect the validity of your application. Please attach two (2) writing samples to this application.

Online managers are responsible for putting all issues of the Wolfpacket up on our website www.thewolfpacket.org. Applicants need extensive computer/internet experience and knowledge. The online manager is still responsible for other Wolfpacket duties such as distribution and reporting. The Wolfpacket website is hosted via WordPress. Any applicant with sufficient computer experience should be able to learn the programming rather easily, but the more experience in the field, the better. Applicants must provide a list of all website platforms they are sufficient in using.

The business manager is in charge of finding and procuring ads for the paper. The business manager is also in charge of billing, invoices, and any other transaction that might occur. This will require knowledge of fund management and keeping track of the overall budget of the Wolfpacket. The job requires initiative and organization. The business manager is still responsible for other Wolfpacket duties such as distribution and reporting. Business managers should be experienced with “sales pitch” like repertoires, and be experienced with interpersonal communication. Business managers will be required to email businesses, call businesses, and visit businesses on an in and out of class basis. Applicants must provide a list of past business experience and any already established business connections.

Photographers receive photo assignments from the photo editor and must be familiar with the use of a digital camera as well as photographic techniques. Unique assignments may include photo opinions, where a photographer must take photos of students as well as gather quotes. Photographers will also be responsible for identifying students whose pictures are taken and assisting editors when writing captions. Photographers are still responsible for other Wolfpacket duties such as distribution and reporting. A strong desire to take pictures and talk to people is required as well as availability to attend games and performances for picture taking. Additionally, all photographer applicants must own their own camera in order to be accepted into this position. The Wolfpacket currently does not have the funds in order to purchase cameras specifically for Wolfpacket use, and therefore, photographers must supply their own cameras. Please attach three (3) to four (4) examples of your work to this application.

Artists/Cartoonists are responsible for illustrating graphics to accompany articles in the Wolfpacket. Previous artistic experience is required, as well as a willingness to collaborate with section editors and the photo editor. Applicants must attach three (3) examples of their work if applying to this position. Artists/Cartoonists are still responsible for other Wolfpacket duties such as distribution and reporting.

The photo editor is responsible for all of the duties of a photographer as well as to assign all of the photo assignments received from section editors to photographers. Photo editors must be familiar with In-Design and Photoshop programs and be at all late-night or workday sessions. Please attach three to four examples of your work to this application.

The advertising manager is in charge of designing and distributing advertisements pertained to the Wolfpacket. This includes, but is not limited to, videos to be aired on Wolfcast about distribution dates etc., social media posts pertaining to Wolfpacket related updates or events, and emailing or calling teachers or other key figures about Wolfpacket recruitment. This would also entail organization of the Wolfpacket booth at registration, and the coordination of soliciting for Wolfpacket subscriptions. Applicants must be experienced with video editing, the use of social media platforms, advertising and marketing techniques, and graphic design. The advertising manager is still responsible for other Wolfpacket duties such as distribution and reporting. Applicants must provide a list of prior advertising experiences and social media platforms they are sufficient in using. Additionally, a submission of three example advertisements must be attached to this application. These can be from past experience, and do not have to be Wolfpacket related.
