“Good morning, Pack!” is the first thing that students hear at the beginning of their fourth period every day. All students at Claremont High School recognize our beloved Wolfcast hosts. Roy is one of these hosts and is instantly recognized around campus as a smart, hardworking, and involved person.
Aside from Wolfcast, Roy has been involved in school activities such as Wolfpack Films, French Club (as vice president), and the 2026 Claremont Culture Fest planning committee. Roy has been very devoted to all of these organizations, and is grateful for the time he has had at CHS.
In the fall of 2026, Roy will be majoring in journalism at Syracuse University’s School of Newhouse. He decided on Syracuse mainly for its stellar journalism program and its generous financial aid.
“I decided to go there for a couple reasons,” Roy said. “The first reason was the program. I’m going into journalism, and it’s a top ten, top five journalism school in the country, specifically in sports. I will say they gave me a good chunk of money, they gave me about $68,000. So it came out cheaper than a lot of in-state schools for me, so everything made a lot of sense. And then when I visited [the college], I loved it, so it’s the perfect place for me,” Roy said.
After college, he plans to pursue sports journalism. This career choice was inspired by his time as a Wolfcast anchor and commentating on football games on Wolfpack Films. “I would love to become kind of an on-air personality, whether that be commentating games or doing more pre-game coverage, but I’m really open to doing anything in the journalism field,” Roy said.
Throughout his time at CHS, Roy has made countless memories and wonderful friends. He is grateful for all the amazing people he has met during his high school career, and believes in the importance of connecting with others and finding people you can trust.
“I’ll shout out my co-anchor and good friend Kaitlyn Zhang, who’s going to UCLA. I’m proud of her. I would like to shout out my AP Gov teacher this past year, Ms. Bodnar, for being the best teacher I’ve ever had. Love you so much! And I’ll just do a quick shout-out to my super close friend group, Scarlette Sanders, Lucia Sanders, Azure Sanders, Charles Dvorak, Cupertino Replogle. Those five I’ve been friends with since elementary school, and they’re the best friends I could ask for. I couldn’t ask for anybody better,” Roy said.
