Lee Weldon, a friend to many and a recognizable face across Claremont High School, is furthering his education at the University of California Santa Cruz this fall with plans to major in Biology. In his free time, Weldon spends it with friends who share the same extroverted and friendly personas. There is no doubt that his attention-grabbing character travels around with him wherever he goes.
Weldon holds a naturally honest and humorous personality. Senior year is known to be a stressful and heavy work load, yet Weldon found a way to grow because of it.
“I’ve never worked harder than at the end of senior year, so much work.” Weldon reflected.
He owns up to difficult times and doesn’t try to sugarcoat the drag of junior year but never forgets to mention the people that helped him along the way. When asked who he would say had the biggest impact on his high school experience he answered strongly,
“Gyuwon Lee. There really isn’t anyone like her and if you’ve met her you know what I mean. She is the needle in the haystack.”
Just like any other senior, Weldon can’t wait to be out on his own. UC Santa Cruz’s reputation for its liberal arts environment mixed with research prestige, the views from the redwood forests on campus overlooking Monterey Bay, and Weldon’s unshakable self will be synergistic.
After graduation, he hopes to make money. He doesn’t know what that will look like exactly but if you see him on your for you page make sure to, as Weldon said, “like, share, and comment.”
