Jack Steckling is well known in the theater community at Claremont high school. Famous for his contributions as a technician and his stunning paintings. However, Steckling will be going in an unexpected and exciting direction after graduation. In the fall he will be attending Chico State University (CSU) to major in Civil Engineering. He is excited for all the new opportunities and experiences he will have, “It’s a field that I want to continue later in life, and hopefully get a job [such as] a city planner.”
During his time at CHS, Steckling was invaluable to the theater program. In 2025, he designed the entire set for “Mean Girls The Musical.”. He was also a department head of Scenic, so he has worked on other show sets, such as the set of Sofia Pores’s senior project, “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals.”
Steckling would like under classmen to know it does not matter what college you get into because you still get to go and have those experiences.
“No matter where you are going the experience will almost always be the same,” Steckling said. “Have fun and enjoy yourself.” Though Steckling is not majoring in art or theater he will still continue painting and hopes to join CSU’s tech program.
Finally, Stecking would like to shout out Ella Miller, a former CHS graduate and student at CSU who Jack is excited to join in the CSU community.
