18 (Realistic) 2018 New Year’s Resolutions

Resolutions. Nothing gets you ready for the new year like making a list of promises that lasts a few weeks (or days). If you can relate to this, you might be disappointed but unsurprised or angry at your lack of self-discipline. You are wondering where you went wrong when you were so determined on Dec. 31. However, I am here to tell you that you are not entirely at fault. It is the way that your New Year’s resolutions state that you will eat vegetables every day (even though you cannot tell the difference between brussel sprouts and brocolli) or that you will start doing yoga every morning (even though the only yoga pose you will ever enjoy is the Shavasana). When it comes to any type of change, you need to start out small. You cannot turn into a different person overnight. If you have already broken your 2018 New Year’s resolutions, we are here to help you get back on track to a healthier, happier lifestyle with some simple and easy resolutions. Here are 18 realistic resolutions in honor of the beginning of 2018.

 

1.) Do one thing everyday that scares you just a little bit
2.) When you are doing homework, hand your phone to your mom
3.) Use your agenda
4.) Don’t complain when it won’t change anything
5.) Forgive easily (even when they don’t deserve forgiveness)
6.) Don’t use your phone when you are with your family
7.) Write down your goals (so that when you accomplish them, you can see you were brave enough to make them)
8.) Find a way to exercise that you love
9.) Stop caring what others think

10.) Thank your teachers everyday before you leave class
11.) Do one good deed unnoticed everyday
12.) Drink a glass of water every morning
13.) Offer help to others
14.) Don’t be afraid to ask for help
15.) Talk to new people (you only get to be with your classmates for 4 years)
16.) Respect everyone regardless of background or career
17.) Learn and accept your shortcomings, and then work tol
improve on them
18.) Don’t ever give anything less than your best
