Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- I cup of sugar
- ½ teaspoons of salt
- 1 cup of butter (softened)
- 3 ounces of cream cheese (softened)
- ½ teaspoons of almond extract
- 1 egg yolk (reserve whites for later)
- 2 ¾ cups of flour
In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine all ingredients except for flour. Mix well. Mix in flour to combine; chill in the fridge for an hour or longer. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
On a lightly-floured surface, roll out dough ( ⅓ at a time) to ⅛ inches of thickness. Cut into desired shapes with lightly-floured cookie cutters. Place 1-inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush cookies with saved egg whites; sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles.
Bake for 7-10 minutes or until golden brown.
makes 5-6 dozen cookies.
Growing up one of my favorite things to do during the holidays was decorating the sugar cookies my mom would make. Decorating these sugar cookies was always a fun way to be part of the baking process. These cookies are the perfect buttery, sugary holiday treat.
