Homecoming Princess: Brooke Higuera
When it comes to her future, CHS homecoming royalty Brooke Higuera doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Higuera plans on attending a four year college following her senior year; hoping to major in computer engineering at Northwestern University in order to become a software engineer. Higuera is passionate about her education and her time spent at CHS truly reflects it. Higuera has taken both AP and IB classes as well as summer school courses every year, aiming to challenge herself academically.
Higuera is no stranger to pushing herself. Her four years spent at CHS have been packed with activities and extracurriculars. Higuera has been a member of ASB for the past four years and being nominated alongside her friends from ASB has been one of the highlights of being on court. Higuera has played varsity on Claremont High’s soccer team for three years, attending CIF each year she played. She is also a member of the women’s empowerment club at CHS. Despite her busy schedule, Higuera always finds time to listen to her favorite musical artists SZA, LANY, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
Higuera, though shocked over her nomination to homecoming court, has found her position as royalty enjoyable and exciting. While Higuera has found being on homecoming court alongside her friends fun she doesn’t aspire to win homecoming queen; candidly believing her fellow princesses are more deserving. Despite her typical lack of enthusiasm for getting dressed up, Higuera has found dress shopping for homecoming to be surprisingly enjoyable.
“It’s just fun to get super dressed up and feel kind of special,” Higuera said.
Higuera has found her high school experience enriching and as she reflects on her time spent at CHS, she believes authenticity is the most crucial part of one’s high school experience.
“I know this is super cliché but to be yourself and be confident in who you are is key to high school,” Higuera said.
Truly taking her own advice, Higuera has spent her time at CHS staying true to herself and filling her time with her adored extracurriculars, activities, and friends. It’s no surprise Higuera has another title, homecoming princess, to add to her collection!
