One of the most tight-knit clubs at Claremont High School (CHS), Key Club has captured the attention of students who have a passion for helping their community. In addition to encouraging students to meet new people, Key Club’s work has helped its members to build deep connections with the environment. With the help of the Kiwanis Club of Claremont, which helps involve Key Club in community events, the group of students has taken action to promote sustainability. Adrian Ton, a junior at CHS and the current president of Key Club, shared the club’s achievements in an interview.
“We have a lot of…opportunities to go outside and pick up trash,” Ton said. “I remember in Claremont High School, we helped the custodians pick up trash around the quads. [Also] at the start of my term, I organized a hiking event where my club and I went around the Claremont loop trail and…picked up trash.”
Combining both an inclusive community and consideration for the world we live in, members of Key Club have dedicated many hours of their time to promoting a cleaner environment. Although projects for future terms remain unknown, this Earth Day, we celebrate Key Club and its hard work towards making our world a better place.
