Our planet, the place we call home, is Earth. It has all the things we need to live and grow. Despite the beauty of our planet, we seem to be doing our best to destroy it. From pushbacks against climate change initiatives to the lack of awareness and action against population, the world often turns a blind eye to the rapidly decreasing condition of our home. Standing out, students at Claremont High School have taken matters into their own hands.
Climate organizations and clubs are taking grassroots actions. One of those clubs, Project Planet Pathways, is led by Junior Tara Neemuchwala. In the club, students participate in volunteer events and learn about sustainable initiatives. When asked why she cares so much about our planet, Neemuchwala responded passionately.
“I find it’s a really pressing issue in today’s society, and that we should be doing a lot more to fix it,” Neemuchwala said.
In honor of Earth Day, we should take a moment to reflect on the impact we as individuals have on our environment.
