Despite a busy schedule on the yearbook staff, Micheala Christiansen has always made it her goal to work at various missions and do other volunteer work. These services have taken her around the world, to places such as Peru this past summer, where she assisted in building a computer lab for a school, a soup kitchen, and a hospital. Also, two years ago, she went to Ecuador, where she worked at a special needs orphanage for kids with disabilities.

Christiansen hopes to continue her volunteer work post-graduation. She plans to go to college anywhere from a trimester to a semester, and then leave to travel for mission work. After serving for about a year and a half, she plans to go back to college. She hopes to attend the University of Utah.

“I am planning to go to Africa or Romania, and maybe back to Peru or Ecuador. I am not sure which mission yet, and because it is through our church, we are called to wherever they feel like they need us,” Christiansen said.

Aside from her volunteer work, a large majority of Christiansen’s time is taken up by her work on the yearbook staff as a photo editor, which means she edits the pictures for the yearbook. She has been on staff for three years and it is her first year participating on ASB. Through both ASB and yearbook, she has met many people throughout CHS, an aspect that is illustrated by the fact that she says that she knows everybody else on Homecoming court.

“I think we have a really good variety of people on court this year,” Christiansen said. “It is great to share this experience with the other nine princes and princesses and it is a great bonding experience because we get to do so much stuff together.”

As for her advice to underclassmen, Christiansen believes in complimenting people. She encourages others to be who they are and to have a positive attitude in general towards people and life.

“The amount of effort that you give is the amount you get back, so be happy, make friends with people, and say hi to just brighten other people’s days,” Christiansen said. “Because you only have 24 hours in a day, so you want to get the most out of how you spend your time.”

Throughout her years at CHS, this has been Christiansen’s motto. This attitude has earned her a solid place on campus, proven by her spot on court, and will also help her earn many more accomplishments in the future.
