Prom Court: Amaya Lopez

An ambitious student and devoted friend, there is no doubt that Amaya Lopez deserves to be on Prom Court. As an active member of the CHS community, Lopez is involved in both Avid and Wolfcast and recognizes the latter as being her favorite class and a learning experience along with an opportunity to gain a lot of new friends. On top of her busy class schedule, Lopez is also exploring interests in weight lifting and fashion and does her best to let her personal style shine in each outfit.

Looking back on her high school experience, Lopez will miss spending time with her friends but feels reassured by the memories they have made that she will never forget. Graduating high school may be bittersweet, but she is excited for what the future holds and plans to continue her education as a part of the Thousand Oaks Explorer program in order to become a police officer.

Lopez is thankful to be ending a successful high school career as a member of the Prom Court, which is sure to be a lasting memory from her years at CHS and based on the experience, she shares advice for underclassmen.

“Try to just be in the moment and do not worry so much about everything else,” Lopez said. “I felt really excited and grateful for everyone who voted for me. I want to thank my mom because when I told her I wanted to run, she pushed me because she believed in me.”
