Shivaram shoots for Brandeis

1) What made you choose Brandeis?
“When I was first deciding colleges, I really didn’t know anyone who went there, but after doing a bit of research on Schoolinks, Brandeis interested me because they had a wide variety of resources. I also thought it was in a really cool area, even though it’s quite far away.”

2) In Terms of college applications, what did it take to get into Brandeis?
“I thought it was a little different in comparison to other colleges. I had to submit an extra paper, which I thought was a really cool idea because it is hard to get a sense for what a student’s writing style is when they are writing a generic college application. I submitted an English paper for mine.”

3) What will you miss most about CHS?
“It is hard to believe CHS is coming to an end already. I’m definitely going to miss my friends, that is going to be really tough being away from them. I also really enjoyed my teachers this year. All of the teachers did a really good job gaining my interest. The teachers were always motivated.”

4) What are you planning on majoring in (and if you don’t know, what are your plans for the future)?
“I am not entirely sure, but I am leaning towards something in the science area. In my freshman and sophomore year, Im hoping on exploring every possible avenue, and discovering something I am really passionate about.”

5) What extracurricular activities are you planning on contributing to?
“Brandeis is a really good avenue for human rights and social justice, which is definitely similar to speech and debate. I definitely want to join clubs that are active politically, as well as branching off and looking for things to do in the heart of Boston.”

6) If you were to give incoming freshmen advice, what would it be?
“Just enjoy your time at CHS. A lot of people think high school can be stressful, a place where you have to do well no matter what. But really, you just need to enjoy your time there, it goes by really fast. While it is important to keep up with academic standards, it is also important to discover that CHS is a really cool place, allowing you to meet great people.”

7) Any shoutouts?
“I’m going to do four. I’m going to shout out Jin-Kay, Anthony, Caleb, and Reggie. I’ve been good friends with them since freshman year.”
