Alex Hoffmeister is taking off to Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), majoring in nursing to pursue his dreams of becoming a physician’s assistant or a nurse practitioner. In the process, he is also chasing his passion for volleyball and is committed to playing at the collegiate level for SBCC’s volleyball team.
During his time at Claremont High School, Hoffmeister was able to become a volleyball captain and a Link Crew leader for two years. With his time during volleyball, he went to round two of the Boys Volleyball California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section tournament. Simultaneously, he played volleyball for the IMUA Universal Volleyball Club, and volunteered at Casa Colina Hospital to prepare himself for his future career in nursing.
“I want to do nursing because I would be able to help people,” Hoffmeister said.
Despite not having a favorite memory at CHS, Hoffmeister enjoyed spending time with his friends. To him, his time in high school was short. As he departs for SBCC, he leaves behind advice, for his underclassmen, that he learned during his time here.
“[…] Enjoy every moment because high school seems like it is going to be long but it goes by really quickly,” Hoffmeister said.
Hoffmeister would also like to shout out his mom.
“Thank you for all the love and support through the years,” Hoffmeister said.
As Hoffmeister moves on to the next years of his life in Santa Barbara, utilizing the same skills he developed through leadership and friendship on the court and in the medical field, his teammates, family, and peers will continue to cheer for him.
