Taara Reddy reaches for the stars as she makes her way to the University of Southern California (USC) to major in psychology. Reddy has spent much of her high school years juggling her athletics and academics, becoming an essential player on the Varsity Golf team for all four years at Claremont High School (CHS) while balancing a heavy academic workload. Reddy also takes pride in starting the “Play it Forward” club, which aims to extend access to sports clinics for underprivileged kids in the area.
“We did dance clinics, soccer clinics, [and] basketball clinics,” said Reddy. “It kind of brought us together at Claremont High, but then also brought a whole community outside of the school.”
Her involvement at CHS and beyond helped her achieve everything she put her mind to, including her recent commitment to USC. Reddy plans to major in psychology, following in her father’s footsteps.
“My dad is a forensic psychiatrist, so I’ve always grown up to love that field,” said Reddy. “I’m currently taking IB Psych with Ms. Bodnar, and I love the class, so why not explore it more?”
Reddy’s advice to CHS students is to live in the moment and prioritize balance.
“Even if someone is academically driven, I think it’s important to also go out, have fun with your friends, [and] not focus too much on one thing,” said Reddy. “Having balance is very important and helps you stay grounded in the long run.”
Reddy would like to shout out her parents, teachers, and counselors for always supporting her. She also wants to thank her friends for making her time at CHS especially memorable.
As goal-oriented and driven as Taara Reddy is, she also experiences life to the fullest while making a lasting impact on those around her. After four years of dedication and commitment at CHS, Reddy is ready to take on USC.
