After four years of making her mark behind the scenes, Caroline Delgado is headed to the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) this fall. Delgado chose UCSB for several reasons, but one moment stood out above the rest.
“My main reason is that I actually got in early,” Delgado said. “I got invited to a reception, and they announced our early decision. I was like, ‘okay, if they cared that much to do that for me, then I should probably go there.’”
Beyond the early acceptance, UCSB’s balance of academics and student life also appealed to her. “It’s a really fun and social school and good for academics,” said Delgado.
Throughout her time at Claremont High School (CHS), Delgado has been deeply involved in technical theater. While many students see the finished performances on stage, Delgado has spent countless hours working behind the scenes. She also serves as the wardrobe department head and is an active member of the International Thespian Society.
When asked about what made the biggest impact on her high school experience, Delgado did not hesitate to point to technical theater. Through the program, she found a close-knit community and developed valuable skills.
“All my friends are in it, and I have so many good memories,” Delgado said. “I’ve learned so much from being in the technical theater class and working all the shows.”
Before graduating, Delgado wants to recognize several teachers who helped shape her high school journey.
“I’ll shout out my favorite teachers: Mangrio, Mr. Tucker, and Miss Quick,”Delgado said. “They’ve all had a very big impact on my life and my high school career.”
As Delgado prepares to begin the next chapter at UC Santa Barbara, she leaves behind a legacy of dedication, creativity, and leadership in CHS theater. Delgado’s contributions have helped bring countless productions to life, and her impact on the program will be remembered long after graduation.
