The Claremont Village has continued to increase in popularity over the years, and a major contributor to this success is the food. The food options appeal to a variety of people, with options for dietary restrictions like gluten-free and vegetarian, as well as providing many different cuisines. Despite the many people walking into Claremont Village daily to eat, the quality remains high at most restaurants.
Thirty students at Claremont High School filled out a Google Form regarding their favorite spots in the village and why. Overall, CHS students choose their favorite Claremont restaurants based on price and taste.
The most common price range students say they typically spend when eating in the village is $10-$15, with very few saying over $20. This is a big factor in students deciding which food spot in the village they like the best. Most of the students surveyed said their favorite place was Poke Dot, because the food is good, and one student specifically likes it post-workout.
While some students claimed a lot of places are known in the village, others said there were hidden gems that not enough people know about. These hidden gems were The Peel (acai bowls) right across from Shelton park, Rufus (Italian food) on Yale avenue, and Bua Thai (Thai food) to the right of the packing house.
A more controversial topic was which restaurants are the most overrated, and the most common answer was Blaze Pizza. Olivia Quezada, a junior at CHS agrees with this statement.
“My grandma makes better pizza,” Quezada said.
And tied for second were Nobibi Ice Cream & Tea and Insomnia Cookies.
CHS students have a variety of opinions about Claremont village eateries; but overall the determining factor to where they choose to eat is which place has the cheapest, and has best food to have with their friends.
