“My best memory was this season when we played against Alta Loma, our rival team,” Bella Bonnett said, reliving what would be a core memory from CHS soccer. “We went into double overtime and that’s when I took a shot from the 30 yard line and it went in! It was a golden goal and it was my birthday too.”
Starting at the young age of four, twins Bella and Gianna Bonnett found a passion for soccer out of the other numerous sports that they tried. The two have been playing soccer for over 12 years and joined the CHS soccer team in their junior year. Because of the twin’s heavy involvement in the sport, soccer has always been an important part of their lives and helped them to establish lifelong friendships with teammates.
Although soccer can be a tough sport at times, the Bonnetts have their family and their drive for success to support them along the way. Due to their competitive drive and love for soccer, both Gianna and Bella feel confident that they have a good future ah

ead of them in soccer. Gianna’s position on the team is currently the goalkeeper, while Bella is the attacking midfielder. She is also a leading scorer on Max Preps, a website that tracks high school sports all over the nation. The two are this month’s chosen athletes. With an amazing season and an undefeated record, Gianna is very proud to say that her greatest accomplishment on the team would be not allowing a goal in this league.
Individually, Gianna and Bella train to prepare for the high school and club soccer season. Along with playing on CHS’ team, the Bonnetts play together on their club team, Sporting Arsenal, outside of school.
“Club soccer is usually more competitive and you play to get a scout for college, but high-school soccer is just a more well-rounded community with Claremont, so it is way more fun and relaxed,” Gianna Bonnet said.
Regarding the future outside of high school, Bella plans on playing collegiate soccer at Seattle University next fall, while Gianna is still deciding which college she will be playing for. Both sisters agree that they are not leaving soccer out of their lives, and will continue to enjoy the sport as long as they can. Due to their amazing years at CHS and their wonderful experience being on the CHS soccer team, both Gianna and Bella would love to shout out to their teammates on girls soccer and to their best friends Mia Rodriguez, Natalie Turiace, and Gabriella Burum.
