Annika Graham-Scanlon has left a major impact on Claremont High School’s legacy, having been on the Claremont High School Volleyball and Flag Football teams, leading others by being a part of Link Crew and involving herself in the National Honors Society.
She is going to be attending Amherst College in Massachusetts, and though she has not declared her major, she is excited to join the Amherst Track Team. This makes sense as she had a successful track career at CHS.
“We just won the Division Two Girls Championship Titles, which was pretty exciting,” said Graham-Scanlon.
“I know some people who are going [to Amherst] already,” Graham-Scanlon said. “So I think it’s going to be a really great experience and a really good community.”
Like her, Camilla Walsh, will also be attending Amherst College this fall. Walsh will be playing softball at Amherst, after playing for twelve years and being the team captain for Claremont High School varsity softball.
She has also played on the varsity volleyball team for three years, and is the vice president for ASB and the Steps for Change club. “I love float building, football games. I love every dance,” said Walsh. “Just spending time with the people that I met on campus and got close with, as well as just a bunch of classes, like AP Government and Spanish Honors 3 [was great].”
She will be majoring in biology and minoring in political science during her time at Amherst.
Walsh shared some advice for her fellow students.
“I’d say participate in everything,” Walsh said. “You never know if you’ll like it until you try it, and to just not care about what people think before jumping into something.”
