Mamma Mia! It’s a Pizzeria

Where can a Claremontian get New York-style pizza? Right here in the Claremont Village. In March, a new restaurant called Pie Street Pizza opened at 1 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, specializing in New York-style pizza.

“It is really nice that a build-it-yourself pizza store opened up right here in Claremont. Pie Street had a really interesting selection and there is no limit of each topping you can put on your pizza,” senior Ebby Azumah said.

When customers first walk in, they are greeted by a clean cut interior and signs similar to the popular restaurant chain Pieology. However, that is where the similarities end. Unlike any pizza restaurant in the Village, Pie Street has a unique flair uncommon to this coast. The pizza is ordered in a build-your-own fashion or a pick from the originals.

One special attribute that makes Pie Street distinctive when compared to others is that customers are able to choose from an unlimited amount of 25-plus toppings and sauces. Some of these interesting toppings include tikka masala sauce and premium halal beef. The price is quite reasonable too, as everything, including desserts and salads, are less than $10. Owner Ray Malik had dreamed of opening a pizza restaurant. When the lot next to his other restaurant Tikka was available, Malik bought it and opened Pie Street.

The manager of Pie Street recommends the buffalo chicken pizza with mozzarella. Its cool and hot flavor, especially with the exclusive halal meat and tikka masala sauce is only $6.99.
Through the strategic location and delectable topping choices, Pie Street has brought an unprecedented style to the Claremont Village.
