Many may know him as the weird, friendly, and humble senior, but Daniel Chung is much more than the typical student on campus. Chung is involved in school clubs such as the Heart Healers and the Korean Club, of which he is the treasurer. Not only is he active around school, Chung shows his athleticism through sports as a member of the varsity boys basketball and track and field teams.

“I enjoyed playing basketball throughout my high school career because I realized the potential I had. Being a two year varsity basketball member, I decided that I needed a change of pace and started to run track,” said Chung.

Through his hard work and sacrifices, Chung continues to push through senior year, determined to achieve his goal of attending University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Already planning on attending a four year college or university, Chung was intrigued by the prospect of being in a pre-medical program and sees himself studying rigorously in medical school with those with the same dream in years to come.

“I have sacrificed a lot playing sports, striving for good grades, and making friends throughout my high school year and I hope all of the experiences I have gone through will benefit me in the future.” said Chung.

The motto he lives by truly reflects his own life: work hard and have fun. This simple saying motivates him to push through the stressful nights of work, but reminds him that he should relax and enjoy life as well. Through rough times, he looks up to his family and close friends as role models. Since Chung places his family close to his heart, his plan for retirement is to travel the world with his wife and children.

“I enjoy seeing a smile on people’s faces, and during my retirement, I want to help resolve any problems in people’s lives,” said Chung.

As Chung’s high school career comes to an end, he looks back at all the memories and is content with many of his decisions. He accepts the way he is and continues to look for ways to improve himself. Being an experienced high school student he persists that students should not procrastinate and try to make high school a memorable four years.
