“Be a Goldfish” is Caleb Sapp’s life motto, as he explains that Goldfishes have a two-second memory span. For Caleb, what this means is to accept defeat and failure when it comes your way. Caleb will never forget the moment he found out he was nominated for homecoming court! Sapp was just as shocked (but pleased) to hear that he had been nominated. With no campaign, no plans, and frankly, no idea of what was next, he made it to the top ten!
CHS’s Volleyball star felt honored when he had made it so far, “it was a big surprise to be nominated and even more to have made it to top ten, we told a few people but vote but the rest was my friends” Sapp said. to him, what mattered most was having fun with all his peers and enjoying himself in his last year as a senior. This homecoming season was just made more exciting for this certified student-athlete, with him not only playing volleyball for CHS but also finding himself playing for the youth National team. If his busy schedule allows it, you’ll find him hanging out with his crew, taking on the big waves at the beach surfing, or submerging himself in music and movies.
Sapp is recognized across campus for being a chill-down-to-earth guy spreading kindness. However, inside the court, Sapp does not just play volleyball but dominates it. Hardworking and competitive with a talent for the net, he left an impact on the UCLA scouting agents. Leaving him with an acceptance and athletic offer from them. “I’m really excited, it has been a huge blessing for me and my family” Sapp says as he jumps head first into a new journey, he awaits sharing the experiences and rooming with some of his teammates at UCLA.
After high school, he embarks on a student’s life’s biggest question: what he wants to study? He hopes to pursue business or psychology but is open to experimentation. Cherishing the bus rides back from volleyball games and the comradery of the bonds he created, he will remember Claremont High with fondness.
