CHS Principal Dr. Brett O’Connor and other student organizations on campus have been using Twitter as a way to get valuable information to CHS students and staff. O’Connor has been sending out reminders a few times a week through Twitter about upcoming events and updates on students and CHS sports.

“I wanted to get accurate information out to students and parents in an efficient manner,” O’Connor said. “I also know most teenagers do not spend time reading emails.”

CHS students are responding positively to this form of communication as it is more accessible to them through their cell phones. Some students have even “retweeted,” meaning they posted something on their Twitter that someone else has posted. Through “retweets,” O’Connor has been able to spread the news about CHS even further. Many students, including senior Hannah Hoyle, are interested to see their principal showing interest in the things they do on campus.

“I think it is cool that he has a Twitter because it makes [the students] feel like they can get to know him,” Hoyle said. “His involvement shows us that he cares about our school.”

Other student organizations are also using social media to get the word out about important events on campus. Yearbook, the Wolfcast, and the Wolfpacket, all use Twitter to get important information, sometimes with accompanying photos, out to CHS students quickly.

Twitter has become an effective and intriguing way to get the scoop out to the students of CHS about clubs, sports, and news. The principal, along with other organizations on campus, have figured out a new and clever way to reach and connect the students. Twitter is one way that CHS is staying connected as One Pack.
