Kenya

Senior Charlotte Stradley embarked on a meaningful journey this summer when she traveled on a mission trip to Kenya. “I first found out that my church was going a few years ago,” Stradley said. “Ever since then, I have been thinking about it and praying about it.” The primary effort of the expedition was to provide relief to students in Kenya. In Kenya, it can be difficult to get a full education, with students sometimes having to travel miles just to go to school, a luxury we sometimes ignore at CHS.
The two recipients of this generous sponsorship are Sydney and Gift, who are 19 and 5 respectively. While she was there, Stradley did crafts, taught lessons, and went to worship with them. Just by going on this mission, Stradley also felt like she had received something in return for her kindness.
“Just the opportunity to experience a new culture and to help people in a different atmosphere is something I’ve just always dreamed of doing.” Additionally, Stradley saw the natural splendor of Kenya’s National Parks while on safari, a reward for years of dedicated service to her budding scholars. By sponsoring students, Stradley and her family have given hope for a better future to those who may have lacked it.
