With every upcoming season of sports, there is always the excitement of the rally. Rallies at CHS are made significantly more entertaining courtesy of the ASB Tech Team Department, and their exceptional filmmaking. Seniors Jonah Evans and Diego Henriquez, junior Natalie Nguyen, as well as sophomores Gilad Bechor and Natalya Quick work long hours to produce eye-catching visuals overlaid with catchy music that are staples of every rally.

The tech team begins its process by planning and writing a video script specific to a given rally theme, subsequently coordinating film times with athletes, coaches, and other concerned parties. After planning comes filming: a deceptively difficult task.

The job is more than just heading to a game, shooting film, and calling it a night. On the contrary, all team members must participate in filming to get the best game clips and action sequences. Depending on the day or practice schedule, it can take anywhere between five and 18 hours to finish filming a sport.

The final step towards a completed rally video is editing raw footage; a tedious task in which the whole team participates. After its been gone through, the footage must then be adapted for any and all music tracks. Editing as a whole is quite lengthy, often taking an excess of 50 hours to complete. However, the tedious hours spent working by the tech team prove worthwhile as their videos are an exceptional way of showcasing student-athletes’ hard work and dedication.

“Having a vision and executing it is a feeling like no other. Hearing students cheer and yell at a rally in response to seeing a rally video makes the long and difficult hours worth everything and more,” Nguyen said.

The videos prove to be an exceptional way of showcasing students hard work and participation in sports. The rally videos have, and continue to be a crucial aspect in spreading pack pride to each and every rally. With every rally, comes a greater sense of packpride which is greatly in part to the tech team’s final product.
