Superbowl XLIX: Big Predictions for the Big Game
The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks are soon to go head-to-head in the biggest football game of the year. Super Bowl XLIX, scheduled for Feb. 2, is being played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with a projected sold out crowd of over 70,000. Predicted outcomes of the game vary from many different sources, so predictors can only base their outcomes on the regular season and the performance of the two teams in recent weeks.
The New England Patriots, despite the allegations of deflating the game-day footballs in the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts, are in a good position to win the big game on Feb. 2. The Patriots won the game by a massive margin on Jan. 18, scoring 45 while the Colts only managed to score one touchdown. Seasoned quarterback Tom Brady is ready to lead his strong of fense past the treacherous Seahawk defense, which could be the excitement of the game itself. Although New England has the receivers to beat any team in the game, they might lean towards the run-game to get by the defense of Seattle. Patriot head coach Bill Belichick, a 3-time Super Bowl winner as a coach, has his work cut out for him and must pull out all of the stops in order to come out on top.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is also preparing to put his team on top, with their crafty offense and tough defense. All-Star running back Marshawn Lynch is a threat to Patriot defense throughout the game and is sure to be used as a top weapon for Seattle. Offensively, look for Russell Wilson to make a charge late in the game if his team just so happens to be trailing. The Seahawks also have a star-studded defense lead by Richard Sherman, a Stanford University graduate who plays aggressively and plays how he claims he will. The matchups between the opposing powerhouse offenses and defenses will bring excitement to the game and drive fans wild.
Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots’ head coach is pursuing his fourth career Super Bowl win as a head coach. He has lead his team in the past to many difficult wins, but has managed to give the Patriots their best chance at winning since he joined the team back in 2000. Belichick’s last Super Bowl appearance was in 2011, where he lost to the New York Giants. Since then, the coach has been hungry for a big victory and is ready to outwork the Seahawks.
Pete Carroll, current Seahawks head coach and former Patriots head coach, is training his team hard to beat the team that fired him 15 years ago. Following his Super Bowl win last year against the Denver Broncos, Carroll is looking forward to beating his former team and taking home the Vince Lombardi trophy yet again. Since joining the Seahawks in 2010, the head coach is putting all of his football knowledge into this clash against the Patriots and is hoping his team will be the last standing.
When it comes to potential outcomes, the Seattle Seahawks are a bit more well-rounded and shaped to take home the Vince Lombardi trophy. New England will have the offense to keep the game interesting, but the Patriot defense needs to work extremely hard to stop the charging Seahawks. Wilson will have a bounceback game for his team, giving effort to not trail late in the game again so the Seahawks can run the game the way they want to. The 2015 Super Bowl will be a close, intense battle, but predictions have the Seattle Seahawks edging out the New England Patriots and winning the game.
