“Have you heard the news?” A statement often used when tragedy strikes a nation. Of course, everyone has already heard: the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative political activist and a public speaker, Charlie Kirk, has died. He was assassinated on September 10th, 2025, while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The shot rang out at 12:23 pm, hitting Kirk in the neck; he would die two hours later at 2:40 pm. According to court documents from the university, seconds after the shot was fired, George Zinn, 71, was heard shouting. “I shot him, now shoot me,” Zinn said.
Police quickly apprehended the man, making it seem as though the shooter had been caught. After being brought to a hospital, however, it was found that he was not the true killer and that he had made the claim “so the real suspect could get away,”. On Monday, Zinn was booked at the Utah County Jail. He allegedly “uses (his) phone to look at child sexual abuse material,” said SOURCE. He is being investigated for Obstruction of Justice, a second-degree felony, and four counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor.
On September 11th, authorities announced that they found the rifle, a Mauser Model 98, .30‐06 bolt‐action rifle fitted with a scope wrapped in a towel. It was found loaded with rounds which had casing that read “Hey fascist! Catch!”, “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao.”, and “If you read this, you are gay LMAO,”. The Governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, said that the first casing “speaks for itself.” The second casing is a reference to a World War 2 era anti-fascist Italian song, and the third is an internet meme meant to make fun of investigators. The spent casing of the bullet that actually shot Kirk read “Notices bulges OwO what’s this?”, this is a reference to online memes and specific niches. It is an obvious sexual reference that needs no further explanation.
The alleged shooter would be identified on September 12th, 33 hours after the shot rang out, as Tyler Robinson, 22. “We got him,”Cox said. He was formally charged on Tuesday with aggravated murder, along with six other charges. The State of Utah is seeking the death penalty with the A woman who was in attendance during the assassination showed up at the first hearing. Keri Rasmussen and her daughter Bri were there, “I wanted to see if he felt terrible, sorrowful, regretful, “Rasmussen said. “I think I hoped for remorse. But there was nothing.” The FBI is still investigating an official motive. FBI Director Cash Patel explained the investigation on X.
“We are meticulously investigating theories and questions, including the location from where the shot was taken, the possibility of accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential ‘signals’ near Charlie at the time of his assassination, and visitors to the alleged shooter’s residence in the hours and days leading up to September 10, 2025,” Patel said.
However, When asked “why” by his roommate, “I had enough of his hatred,” Robinson said. “Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” According to an indictment, Robinson’s mother told police that over the past year, he had become more left-wing, “more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented”. Officials are also reporting that Robinson’s roommate is a “biological male” transitioning to female. It is also important to note that Robinson is a registered independent and has not voted in the last two elections, according to the Associated Press.
In the end, a man was killed, an investigation started, and every American must recognize the dangerous trend towards political violence in our nation. Verbal disagreements should never be ended by violence.
