With graduation day closely approaching, one senior will make her way across the country to the Bay State this fall. On this journey, she will be taking her kindhearted attitude and gentle voice to accomplish all of her future dreams. Senior Eleanor Cramer plans to continue her musical journey at Smith College—a private liberal arts college in foggy Northampton, Massachusetts.
As an extremely involved and well-balanced student at CHS, Cramer’s acceptance was no surprise to anyone. Throughout her four years in high school, she has taken a challenging combination of AP and IB classes. She has also been an active member of the CHS Band for four years as a trumpet player, alongside relaying rhythmic tunes in Chamber Singers for the past two years. Outside of music, Cramer actively contributes to the German Club, serving as their treasurer. She also participated in both ComedySportz and Children’s Theatre.
As a music major at Smith, Cramer hopes to take a multitude of classes in subjects that interest her. She is also very excited to explore new subjects and experience activities that she has never done in high school. She is considering the possibility of double majoring in something alongside music that may open up new opportunities for her. Although unsure of her career path after college, Cramer is considering pursuing a future in music. After struggling to find her perfect fit, Cramer landed on Smith due to many different reasons.
“I had a hard time deciding on a college but ultimately chose Smith because I thought it
offered me the best opportunities,” Cramer said. “It has an open curriculum, meaning that I don’t have to fulfill any GE or distribution requirements. It also has a really beautiful campus with amazing facilities and resources for students.”
Cramer plans to continue many of the activities that she participated in at CHS during her time at Smith. She emphasized her passion for singing which she will carry with her and continue at college. She also considers the possibility of continuing trumpet, but leaves it up to her future schedule at this liberal arts college. As she fondly looks back at her high school years, Cramer did not fail to mention how much she will miss her friends and the communities she has built over the past four years.
“It’s hard to choose a favorite memory, but I have had a good time getting to know everyone in my classes,” Cramer said. “I also had an amazing time going to the choir festivals in New York City and Hollywood.”
Lastly, Cramer would like to shout out Frau Tsai, Mr. Shouse, Dr. Wilson, Ms. Kusano, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Glavin, and all of her friends for being so supportive over the years.
