Guatemala

Grace Dorantes, a CHS senior, visited the beautiful cities Antigua, San Martin Chiquito, and Panajachel in Guatemala. Dorantes participated with a non profit organization named Xela Aid. While there, she helped at a clinic in Quetzaltenango for five days. She taught a public speaking class to Guatemalan youth, led fifth and sixth grade English classes, taught one on one English with adults, and distributed children’s shoes that her family brought from the United States.
A city that stood out to Dorantes during her trip was Antigua.
“Even the architecture in Antigua is breathtaking and beautiful. Every corner you turn, you come across a different church or architectural masterpiece,” Dorantes said.
Dorantes highly recommends to look into participating in the organization of Xela Aid if people are interested in learning Spanish, visiting a beautiful country, and expanding their views on life. According to Dorantes, Xela Aid is an organization like none other.
