Russia
Summer is a time filled with sunny days, rainy days, travelling, and lazing around. Sophomore Andrew Greene experienced plenty of that when he visited Russia this summer to watch five World Cup games. Of the 11 cities that Russia had games in, Greene visited Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk and watched 5 games total. One memorable moment was during the Colombia versus Japan game when the Colombian fans were going nuts. Ultimately, Japan won 2-1 so they were cheering in vain.
Another memorable moment was in the Costa Rica versus Brazil game.
“My seat was near the corner kick spot, and I saw Neymar really close when he was taking a corner kick, which was cool because I also got to see them celebrate,” Greene said. He was originally rooting for Bolivia, but since they didn’t make it this year, he was instead rooting for Latin American teams. Greene also picked up some nice merchandise during his 10-day stay in the Russian Federation.
