Coates Cyclery Closes
After more than 80 years of business, Coates Cyclery, located on Foothill, will close up by the end of February. The shop is currently owned by Wes Roth, the heir to the store’s name sake, Adair Coates, who first pedaled the idea of the bike shop in 1934. The bike shop became a hub for local bike riders, and the closing of the store has made waves in the community.
“Coates is one of the sponsors for our mountain biking team at CHS,” Nick Labinski said, “It’s really sad that they’re closing.”
Having been around for so long, it is guaranteed that Coates Cyclery can be credited for awakening many individuals love for cycling, whether old or young.
