A Road to Remember: Homecoming 2015 Princess Kristen Kiltgaard and Prince Bijan Kavoosi
Kristen Klitgaard:
It is a dream come true. Senior Kristen Klitgaard has taken the position on homecoming court as one of the princesses. According to her kindergarten yearbook, Klitgaard wanted to become a princess and a worker. Now, she pursued both of her goals as she stands in the homecoming court and in as an IB student. She was chosen by many of her peers because of her optimism and quirkiness.
Klitgaard is very involved at CHS, as she participates in multiple extracurricular activities. She has been in choir for all four years of high school, starting from Treble Ensemble in her freshmen year to being part of the Chamber Singers the following three years. Additionally, she furthered her involvement by becoming the president of the choral department. Klitgaard has also played volleyball at CHS for four years. She loves to play volleyball for many reasons, including being active, working with her teammates, and playing in the games. Lastly, Klitgaard has participated in several clubs, like the Ocean Lover’s Society and the Feminism club. She believes that everyone should be treated as an equal, regardless of gender, race, or religion. As Klitgaard is very involved in many activities at CHS, she was able to create positive relationships with many people at CHS.
“I felt pretty awestruck, and pretty thankful. It’s crazy to think about people actually choosing to vote for me. People are just so kind and so cool, and I’m so grateful to know so many of them,” Klitgaard said.
As this is the last year for Klitgaard at CHS, in college, she hopes to major in the field of biological science but is not certain of what branch she wants to follow because she is interested in marine, molecular, environmental, and ecological biology.
“I’m not really sure where I’ll be in 10 or 50 years, the future is pretty open to me. I hope to have traveled more and grown in Christ. I hope to have a job that I really enjoy and to someday have a husband and kids. I hope to still be happy,” Klitgaard said.
Although she is excited for the years ahead of her, she will miss her years in high school, as there are many memories at CHS that she will not forget. For instances, her most memorable moments were from her sophomore year when Chamber Singers went to Washington D.C. to compete in the Festival of Gold, and they ended up winning.
Now with one last year of high school, Klitgaard is able to add another item to her long list of achievements by being a part of the Homecoming court. Klitgaard looks enjoy her last homecoming at CHS as a princess.
Bijan Kavoosi:
Homecoming Prince Bijan Kavoosi’s personal motto is “Mess with the best, die like the rest.” Kavoosi has lived by this mantra for quite some time and has found that is it pertinent to many aspects of his life. In an effort to make his high school years memorable Kavoosi participates in many activities including CHS tennis at the JV level and is involved with the Interfaith Youth Council of LA.
Regarding college and other future plans Kavoosi prefers to attend a Cal State, UC, or the University of La Verne specifically because of their location (California), and the fact that they offer majors that he is intrigued by. Once in college, Kavoosi is considering studying computer science or finance. This is mostly because they are appealing majors and in today’s job market, work is plentiful in these fields.
Thinking back to his childhood Kavoosi laughs at his quirky beliefs such as his career choices a FBI agent or police officer as he is skinny and non physical.
“My most embarrassing experience would probably be this one of getting elected for homecoming court because I have never been to a formal dance or anything of this sort and I am timid in front of large groups of people,” Kavoosi said.
Kavoosi does not know what the future may hold for him, but in 10 years, he sees himself going to school and working a job at the same time and in 50 years having a happy family and successful career as well as no financial struggles.
Kavoosi is so grateful for many people but most of all his mother. He admires how hard she works in order to try and help him succeed in school and how she never prioritizes herself over others. He also credits his successes to her. In addition to his mother, he loves his twin sister Bita who will be his escort.
“ I love my sister. A fond memory I have is our friendship in Kindergarten. We used to be so playful and happy.” Kavoosi said.
Kavoosi has enjoyed his years at Claremont High School and is happy for one last year. He wishes for all to be kind to each other because time is short and it is best to end in good terms upon graduation.
