Students to Dance the Night Away at LACMA

With a night of exciting activities exclusively for teenagers, CHS students will have the opportunity to indulge in a night at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).The Youth Activity Center (YAC) has planned this fun-filled event for CHS students. This after-dark teen night will be held at the LACMA, which will provide students with both an educational and enjoyable environment. Held on Saturday, May 16, the first 40 students who express interest in the event will be able to get out of the house and have a stress free night of dancing and delicious food.

At LACMA, many exciting activities and food will be available for purchase. Activities include exploring through the exhibition “Faces of America: LACMA Collects,” reenactments of famous portraits from the LACMA’s collection with artist Elonda Billera Norris, and a Teen Night Scavenger Hunt with a chance to win a prize. Students will be able to take pictures of this memorable night to share with all their friends in the Headshot Truck. Also, food trucks will be present serving those participating in the dance.

“I am looking forward to hanging out with the staff members at the YAC. It was a fun experience last time I went. I really liked the exhibits and hope to see more there this time,” freshman Kate Montalvo said.

At the end of the night, students will be able to participate in a dance under the stars. Students will have the opportunity to listen to the booming and popping music provided by DJs from the Arts Theater Entertainment School and dance to the pop punk band, Sick Transit, while gazing at the many awe-inspiring paintings displayed on the walls of the LACMA. Students are encouraged to bring $10-$15 to spend on food for the evening.

Throughout the night, the YAC will fulfill their promise of an enjoyable and exciting night. With many memorable times to be had at the event, the LACMA will be sure to give a lucky group of CHS students a chance to relax and enjoy a Saturday night with their friends.
