Shooting and Stabbing Occur in Claremont
On March 4th, both a car-to-car shoot out and stabbing occurred in Claremont. However, these events were completely unrelated. The police received plenty of calls regarding both crimes. The shoot-out took place around 8:45 p.m. on Doane Avenue and Bucknell Avenue. At an apartment, north of Vista Drive, a resident heard around 20 shots with a temporary pause, followed by another 20 or so shots.
The police reports showed that two separate vehicles were shooting at each other. Shots were also fired between the two vehicles in the city of Pomona in the area of East La Verne Avenue and Los Flores Street, which is located on Mountain Avenue along the 10 freeway.
The two vehicles involved were reported to be a black sedan and a white two-door sedan. The black sedan was occupied by at least three males. The white sedan was seen pursuing the black sedan. After about two minutes, officers had arrived on scene, but the two vehicles had fled.
The officers found several specks of bullet casings in the intersection of Bucknell and Doane avenue. There were no victims located, but at least two rounds of bullets hit the wall of an apartment and a brick wall of a nearby apartment complex. At this time, there is no further information about either the incident or the suspects.
The stabbing occurred at South Indian Hill Boulevard, in a Norm’s Restaurant parking lot. A 55 year old man was stabbed by the assailant. At around 8:55 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department called the Claremont Police Department to alert them of the event.
The two people who were a part of the stabbing incident had an argument on the freeway when one stabbed the other. The victim managed to pull off of the freeway and into the parking lot of a nearby Norm’s restaurant. The victim was then moved to a Pomona elementary school to be airlifted off to a USC Medical Center where he was treated. The stabbing occurred in the City of Pomona, so the Pomona Police Department handled the arrest of the suspect and will record the rest of the investigation.
The identities of both the victim and the perpetrator will not be revealed. More information will be gathered on both the shooting and the stabbing, but, for now, no names were released on either cases.
