Paul Yoon is a new teacher at Claremont High School (CHS) and is returning to the campus for the first time in over twenty years as an alumnus. Yoon is currently teaching ninth-grade biology classes as well as physical science. Yoon has always had a passion for the sciences and has pursued his degrees in the field. He received his undergraduate degree from UCL
A in Integrative Biology and Physiology and his master’s degree in education from Azusa Pacific University.
Before coming to teach at CHS, Yoon had been teaching for six years, but he immediately jumped at the opportunity when he saw an opening at Claremont. He was eager to revisit his old high school and see how the school has changed, and to experience the new generation of CHS students. “It’s been fun,” Yoon said. “I’ve enjoyed the students. I feel that every day I’m getting to know more about the students and connecting with them.”
Kira Sweeney, one of Yoon’s ninth-grade students, shares a positive outlook on Yoon’s classroom environment. “He makes sure that you understand everything that he’s teaching,” Sweeney said. “And I really appreciate that.”
Although Yoon has not been a teacher at CHS for long, he is already making a lasting impact on his students and the school as a whole. Yoon is looking forward to attending many more school events this year and rejoining the Claremont Wolfpack family after all of these years.
