If you have ever mistaken a CHS student for a runway model, you have seen Delanie Martin. Despite transferring to CHS in her junior year, Delanie has made major impacts with her countless extracurriculars and impactful volunteering, all while wearing jaw-dropping outfits. Although Martin has moved 16 times within her life, she has found love for acting, music, and math. She has plans to pursue these passions at the College of Lake County in Illinois, majoring in mathematics, and then later transfer to the University of Illinois.
“I would like to be a data analyst,” Martin said. “I thoroughly enjoy doing math, being able to solve problems, and collect information using numbers and formulas.”
Besides her beauty and brains, Martin has participated in many programs in and out of CHS, such as Singathon, theater, and arts, ultimately doing everything she can to illustrate her love for performing and entertainment.
“I love trying new things,” Martin said. “It just keeps life interesting.”
Bringing her extracurricular activities back to one of her home states, Delanie sees herself participating in the College of Lake County theater program and sports teams, ultimately fulfilling her experience in one of her favorite cities, Chicago.
“I’m most excited to move back to Illinois to reconnect with my family there, especially my grandma,” Martin said. “The whole state is just so incredibly beautiful. I’m also really looking forward to discovering different things. I’ve been thinking about participating in new activities and classes like cheerleading and business. They both seem so fun and interesting.”
Whether she is on the next cover of Vogue magazine, analyzing data, or cheerleading on football game sidelines, Delanie Martin is a girl who plans on pursuing her passions, making change, and experiencing all that life has to offer. Like CHS, College of Lake County is incredibly lucky to have her.
