“The process of creating, developing, and delivering content across various platforms, including film, television, radio, and digital media” is a form of illustration and expression representing one of the many definitions of Media arts production, an aspect of creation one senior here at Claremont High knows all too well. CHS senior Ella Millar, currently within the advanced video production class, is now on her way to California State University, Chico, pursuing her passion for film, to turn a once everyday hobby into a future career. Millar has been a part of CHS’s video production class throughout all four years of high school, creating countless projects, Public Service Announcements (PSA’s), and memories. She has helped as a producer with the production of CHS’s “Every 15 minutes” program, where she created a short film that increased awareness surrounding sobriety while driving; and Millar has even made short films in her Advanced Video Production class that played at Claremont’s local movie theater, the Laemmle.
“To see how an audience reacts and how our cast reacts to a finished product is one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had,” Millar said. “I’ve grown from making vlogs with my cousins to now making creative short films for the Advanced Video Production class.”
To fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a filmmaker, Ella will attend California State University, Chico in the fall, where she will major in Media Arts Production to explore all that they have to offer.
“I’m really excited to become even more independent and self-sufficient throughout college and surround myself with people that uplift me throughout these next four years.” Millar said, “I’m also looking forward to trying new things and to being in a new environment.”
Within Claremont High’s video production class, Ella has been able to expand her love for the art of filmmaking while gaining more confidence in it. Anyone who has ever seen one of Ella’s films is always undoubtedly captured by her incredible skill and unique cinematography style, something which California State University, Chico, is not ready for. Students at CHS are not only lucky enough to have their eyes blessed by Ella Millars’ work, but also will get the privilege to say “I went to high school with her!” when admiring her films in future theaters.
