Jack of all trades, master of all—Selina Fan is off to Pomona College. From being a part of every club (barely an exaggeration) at Claremont High to planning to dedicate her time to volunteering at hospitals during college, Fan is looking forward to continuing her busy life pursuing a chemistry major while still staying in Claremont. She hopes to hop on the pre-med or dental school track to help others while hoping to “make a lot of money.”
During her time at Claremont High, Fan has been deeply involved in every aspect of the school. She held officer positions or was a member in clubs such as Claremont Scholarship Foundation (CSF), Key Club, Hispanic Honor Society, ArtStart, Chemistry Club, and Let’s Talk Mental Health Club. Fan was on JV Tennis from freshman to junior year, and she loves doing photography in her (limited) spare time. While balancing her academic pursuits, Fan also saves time for other passions such as traveling.
“I’ve been to Washington State, and I’ve been […] outside the states, like London and Italy,” Fan said.
Besides future travels bringing her joy, Fan is also looking forward to Pomona campus life with one particular tradition catching her attention.
“I heard that there’s one tradition where you throw your friends in a water fountain on their birthday,” Fan said. “That sounds really fun.”
Looking back on her time at Claremont High, Fan has many fond memories, but a moment that stood out to her was one of friendship, bonding, and, of course, fun.
“The senior prom that just happened [was pretty memorable],” Fan said. “That is when all your friends actually participate because [for] their junior prom, a lot of people just do not go.”
Fan met many people she deeply appreciates during her high school years, and she would like to shoutout some of them.
“Shoutout to all my friends and my family,” said Fan. “Shoutout to Maestra Suarez, Mrs. Lee, Mr. U, and Ms. Kandice.”
