Off to Mount Sac she goes! Seanna Tygard will be attending community college at Mount San Antonio College in the fall and majoring in animal science.
The major deals with the study of animals, specifically in their biology. The information derived from this field is applied in many ways to improve how humanity treats and cares for animals. Courses for the major are heavily focused on the maths and sciences, and a few highlights include classes on pet food, animal welfare, and physiology.
Jokingly, Tygard said that although she chooses animals over people, having animal science as her major seemed the best of both worlds.
“I much prefer lizards to people,” Tygard said. “Even if I get a side eye from both.”
She mentioned another key reason for attending Mount SAC: the price tag. Due to the fact that college seems to be anything but affordable these days, she has a humorous way of viewing college tuition expenses.
“They have a whole dang observatory, and I don’t have to break the bank,” Tygard said. “Yet.”
Many seniors have things they wish they knew at the start of high school, and Tygard is no exception to this rule. Her parting advice to underclassmen is simple.
“You all have at least one brain cell,” Tygard said. “Put it to use in some way, but what way you put it to use is up to you.”
