Ryder Upshaw is off to Mt. SAC, bringing his inspirational legacy with him. Throughout his high school career, he has aspired to be a leader and a role model for others. His most illustrious accomplishments come from his time on the swim team, where he rose to the rank of captain and led his team with enthusiasm throughout the season.
“I put a lot of work in,” Upshaw said. “I just enjoy getting faster.”
While he has been an absolute unit in the swim lanes, he also maintains an artistic flare through his passion for music. Guitar is a way of expression and one of Upshaw’s many hobbies. He has formed many memories of successful performances with his friends Aaron and Tiffany. He also had advice to share for those just starting out.
“Practice every single day, whether you want to or not,” Upshaw said.
Clearly, his sigma grindset continues to shine even when he feels demotivated.
Along with his other talents, Ryder did not hold back from elevating his peers academically. Common Good Tutors served as an opportunity for Upshaw to give back to his community.
“It gives you a very open mind about how other people think,” Upshaw said.
Ryder Upshaw will be remembered as the most nonchalant dreadhead who walked the halls of Claremont High School. At Mt. SAC, he will surely continue to inspire his friends and reach further heights. He has plans to transfer, and wherever he ends up will be lucky to receive a dreadhead worth future millions.
