This coming fall, Pomona College has yet another Jimenez to teach. Having many family members graduate from Pomona College, Octavio Jimenez has decided to follow in the footsteps of his family and attend Pomona College, majoring in biology.
“My dad, my aunt, my family [all went] there so it’s like a passing of the torch,” Jimenez said. With his family’s history and the school in mind, Jimenez is rooted in respecting this dynamic. While everyone else was making the tough decision of which college to pick, Jimenez knew all along where he was planning to go.
“Pomona College was my number one option,” Jimenez said.
Though he has not explored many sports in high school, he hopes to try basketball on his new college campus, already thinking of ways to get involved and feel at home at school.
Looking back on these last four years, Jimenez has enjoyed all the experiences and opportunities he got to be a part of. As he looks towards his journey of pursuing higher education at Pomona College, he says farewell to some important role models at this school.
As excited as he is for his new school environment, Jimenez will never forget the valuable lessons learned at CHS.
“[High school] taught me to be scheduled, be organized, [and] get my stuff done,” Jimenez said.
Although he will not leave CHS without gifting students with his tips for success.
“Don’t procrastinate!” Jimenez said, sharing a little bit of insight.
“I would like to shout out Ms. Kandice,” Jimenez said.
With that, Octavio Jimenez looks forward to furthering his education and enjoying a future of friends and fun.
