Students and teachers will never track academic progress the same way again. For the 2025-2026 school year, CHS will transition from using Q Student Connect to a new platform called Aeries.
Aeries is a Student Information System (SIS) used by schools to manage student data, including attendance, grades, and schedules. Aeries Online Enrollment offers a modern platform so parents can easily navigate enrollment procedures.
The District’s Communications Director, Elaine Kong, explains how the decision to switch to Aeries was for the benefit of the students.
“Moving to Aeries is a move that we’ve been anticipating for a really long time,” said Kong. “There were limiting factors with Q and we weren’t able to maximize everybody’s time when it comes to our student information system.”
Nearby districts use Aeries, prompting CUSD to shift to the platform as well. Administrative staff have gone through training for using Aeries, but teachers have not yet received the same information. CUSD has been using Student Connect for many years, so switching to a new platform will be a big change for both teachers and students.CHS math teacher, Tara Ervin, shares her concerns about the shift to Aeries.
““I know admin has gone through training about it, but we haven’t seen much on our end yet as teachers,” Ervin said. “I’m sure it has a lot of the same functions that we’ve used. It’s just going to be strange for me because the entire time that I’ve been teaching here, we’ve just had Student Connect, but it’ll be something new to learn.”
Many students have been using Student Connect since 7th grade at El Roble Intermediate. Therefore, navigating Aeries may be a struggle for CHS students. Freshman Sydney Berge agrees that not using Student Connect anymore will be a big change.
“I use it every day, so it’s a part of my life,” Berge said. “I’m so used to it, and changing it up will be kind of weird.”
While Student Connect has been a useful resource, it may be outdated and will therefore be replaced by a new platform that other school districts such as San Bernardino, Glendora, Azusa, and Los Angeles use as well.
Student Connect has been utilized by staff and students for many years, and switching to a new platform for student information will be a fresh start. Although it will be different, Aeries will shift the way students keep track of their academic progress and help provide them the information they need to succeed.
