Are you struggling in your math class? Do you have questions that require detailed, in-person explanations? Are you nodding while reading this because these questions are hitting a little too close to home? Luckily, there is a solution for you. On April 26 and 27, Jung Soo will be hosting a free study session at the Claremont Village Packing House.
Jung Soo, the main tutor and host of the event, graduated Claremont High School in 2018, where he was actively involved in the CHS community, serving as the Assistant Editor-In-Chief of The Wolfpacket. After high school, Soo attended Swarthmore College, where he double majored in Mathematics and Film Studies. Since graduating, he has worked for various tutoring and education companies, one notably being the Princeton Review, where he provided SAT and Calculus tutoring. Currently, Soo tutors students independently, primarily through virtual sessions, while also volunteering for the free study sessions hosted by the CHS math department. Soo’s ultimate goal is to tutor students completely independently, and he is hosting the open study session at the Packing House as a step toward achieving that.
The event on April 26 and 27 is from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm at 532 W. First St 204, Claremont, CA 91711. The first hour, from 2:00 to 3:00, will be an optional parent information session. Not only will Soo provide an overview of the program, but he will also give a free lesson to parents on how to effectively help their students with math related homework and questions. Regardless of whether their parents attend the information session or not, all students of all ages are welcome to come afterwards. From 3:00 to 10:00 pm, Soo will host an open space for students to come and study together, and he will be walking around answering questions. With AP, IB, and SAT testing right around the corner, this is the perfect opportunity for all students to clear up any areas of difficulty and get questions answered. The session will focus on math but anyone attending is open to work on anything they like. If you have any specific questions about the event, feel free to contact @jungsoomath on Instagram.
