Nathan Ordonez is a talented athlete at Claremont High School, and this year he scored a touchdown on the homecoming court. Ordonez is currently playing as a fullback and linebacker on the varsity football team. His dedication to the team and sport is like no other and he wishes to translate his talents into a successful and fruitful career in kinesiology at Biola University or the University of La Verne to become an athletic trainer. In addition to his academic aspirations, Ordonez is inspired to complete fire training and become a firefighter to serve the community and support his family.
Looking back on his four years of high school, Ordonez names his favorite moment as his sophomore prom, which he spent with his beloved girlfriend, Sophia Batista. He recalls how the energy inside the venue was exciting and beautiful, but having his girlfriend at his side made it all the more special. Despite having his favorite memories, Ordonez recognizes that there were times when he believed he stunted his potential opportunities and wants to help incoming students avoid the same mistakes.
“Take it seriously; I know I did not my freshman year, and now I am working as hard as I can to get back what I lost focus of,” Ordonez said.
He advocates for always staying “on the grind” to reach the highest possible level of success. Ordonez stresses that even though grades should be taken seriously, they are not the only important aspect of high school.
“Enjoy it as much as possible,” Ordonez said.
He explains that high school becomes one of the most memorable and cherished experiences to have when spent with the right people. He highlights the balance between reaching academic goals and making meaningful relationships and good memories.
Nathan Ordonez embodies the spirit of Claremont High – hardworking and dedicated — making him a deserving nominee for the homecoming court. Committed to positively impacting his community and the world, he strives to pursue his dreams and emphasizes that everyone should too.
