After cheering on the Pack for nearly three years, it is now time for CHS to cheer on the sidelines for Sophia Batista as a finalist for homecoming court.
If senior Sophia Batista could have any superpower, she would choose teleportation to never be late, and it is understandable: Batista is active in various extracurriculars on campus. Batista is the co-captain of the competition cheer squad and has been cheering on the varsity team for the past three years, with an impressive win at Nationals last year. One of Batista’s favorite parts of cheerleading is cheering on the sidelines at football games as she loves the energy that the crowd reciprocates in response to her team and the effect on the athletes on the field behind her. One of her favorite memories of CHS has to be last year’s final football game. Although it had been a rough season for football, the game ended in a win for the Wolfpack.
“Seeing everyone happy and joyful together was super cute,” Batista said. “Especially because it was senior night.”
Batista is deeply honored to be selected for Homecoming Court. She was not expecting to get this far and is pleased to be chosen to represent CHS at Homecoming. She credits her family for supporting her unconditionally, especially her mom.
Besides cheering, Batista is the senior class representative for ASB despite this being her first year on ASB. Batista is a living example of her advice to freshmen: “Get involved and find new things to do because you find friends and new people.” She never would have the lovely people who she surrounds herself with today, without branching out and trying new things.
In the future, Batista aspires to become an architect and hopes to attend a four year college to major in architecture. There is no doubt that Batista’s kindness and adventurous spirit will take her far in life.
