CHS senior Mimi Kome has been interested in science, technology, and engineering from a young age and has spent much of her time becoming well acquainted with those fields. Due to these interests and to the time she has put into her extra curricular activities and class work, Kome was chosen to be a featured member on one of the nation’s most listened to radio stations, National Public Radio (NPR). Kome was a featured speaker on the show, “Tell Me More.”

“I was a little nervous before I went on the radio because I’ve never done anything like that before, but Michel Martin, the host, was very friendly and facilitated this nice discussion so it wasn’t as stressful as an interview can be,” Kome said. “I  had thought about the main three things I wanted to say that I thought were really important, so I wasn’t completely making things up on the spot, which was helpful.”

Kome’s interest in science will not end at graduation as she plans to pursue a career in engineering or another field of science.
