Claremont Unified School District Board of Education candidates Nancy Treser-Osgood, David Nemer, and Steven Llanusa won the election for Governing Board Members on Nov. 5. Treser-Osgood led with 2,735 votes, or 29.01 percent. Her win was followed by Nemer with 2,018 votes, or 21.4 percent, and Llanusa with 1,904 votes, or 20.2 percent. Paul Steffen and Joe Salas trailed behind with 1,494 votes and 1,277 votes, respectively.

Treser-Osgood has been a Claremont resident for 25 years and has been involved in supporting education for just as long.

Prior to her victory, Treser-Osgood stated that she intends to explore ways to maximize surplus funds for education, enhance communication between Board members and school faculty, enhance relationships with Claremont after school programs, and maximize relationships with the Claremont Colleges; conveniently, Pomona College and Claremont School of Theology are Treser-Osgood’s alma maters.

Right behind Treser-Osgood in the polls, Claremont resident of 40 years, Nemer intends to carefully consider how the school is using its funding, improve communication within the school district, and help create a smooth transition to the new Common Core curriculum.

Claiming the third victory in this Board election, Llanusa has been a Claremont resident for 20 years and intends to create safer schools, stabilize CUSD financially, and maintain an above-par level of professionalism amongst the faculty of CUSD with highly-credentialed teachers.
