Daniel Gonzalez, a 25-year-old male, was a walk on band coach at Claremont High School just two years ago. But as of Sept. 12, searching up his name now results in articles regarding his arrest due to his alleged sexual misconduct.

Claremont Police Department’s investigation revealed that during his time as a coach at CHS, Gonzalez had met the minor in question. On Sept. 11, 2019 he agreed to meet the minor at 5:30 pm in Claremont. Once Gonzalez arrived however, he was met with several Claremont police officers who took him into custody. According to officials, Gonzalez was arrested for child abuse and contact with a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense. Gonzalez was released after his bail was posted for $100,000. His arraignment will take place on Oct. 10, 2019, at the Pomona Superior Court.

The Claremont Police Department received information about Gonzalez on Sept. 2, 2019, which they began to investigate. As of now, all the police have disclosed of the victim is that he is a 17-year-old male student who met Gonzalez while Gonzalez was employed at CHS.

“CHS had no knowledge of any prior criminal activity by the former employee at the time of hire,” Principal Dr. O’Connor said in an email to parents. “CHS cannot comment further on this ongoing investigation, other than to assure our community that CUSD does not tolerate inappropriate behavior affecting our students.”
